  1. Fantasea UWL-04 Ultra-wide Conversion Lens
Ex. VAT: £362.50 Inc. VAT: £435.00

UWL-04 0.42 x Ultra-wide Conversion Lens. Includes 52mm to 67mm adapter and neoprene cover. Gives us to 165 degree angle of view (diagonally) .

This is the widest 'wet' conversion lens we know of that's available for a compact camera housing. This extreme wide angle view is brilliant for shooting really large subjects including wrecks, dolphins, mantas and other divers. It'll allow you to get really close to your subjects whilst still fitting them within the frame.  By being so much closer you'll get hugely clearer and more colourful pictures. Or if you are lucky enough to be swimming with a pod a dolphins that get close to you you'll be far more likely to get them all in the shot rather than cutting off their heads and tails. The lens doesn't produce super sharp results on the edges of the shot, which is to be expected when working with a really wide conversion lens, however the increase in quality you gain by reducing the amount of water between you and your subject more than makes up for this.

This lens can also allow you to get brilliant pictures of smaller subjects such as lionfish, however you will have to be extremely close to make smaller subjects fill the frame. This makes these kind of shots challenging to take. For general purpose reef photography where you are not expecting really big subjects, a slightly less wide, wide angle lens might make more sense, such as the Fantasea UWL-400F which shoots at 120 degrees.

  2. Fantasea UWL-400F 120 Degree Wide Angle Lens for 24mm Compact Cameras
Ex. VAT: £362.50 Inc. VAT: £435.00
The Fantasea UWL-400F is designed to be fitted onto compact cameras with a 24mm lens and will give the camera a 120 degree field of view. The UWL-400F has a 52mm thread which ideal for attaching it to Olympus compact housings and also comes with a 67mm thread adapter so it can be used with housings/ports that have a 67mm thread.
We think this is one of the best 'wet' wide angle lens options around right now as so many compact cameras are fitted with a 24mm lens which vignette (a black ring around the shot) when using other wide angle lenses (WAL) that are mostly designed for cameras with a 28mm lens. This lens might still vignette when attached to certain camera/housing combinations, though to a lesser extent than with the other lens options available. When using the Olympus TG-5 inside the PT-058 housing, the UWL-400F does not vignette.
The lens is well packed and includes the following items: Neoprene dome cover, rear lens cap, EyeDaptor M67-F52 lens adaptor, secure string, microfiber cloth, O-ring remover and lens padded carrying case
Why use a wide angle lens?
Wide angle lenses allow you to get closer to your subjects whilst still fitting them within the shot. By being closer you will produce both sharper and more colourful results. Most compact cameras' angle of view drops to under fifty degrees diagonally when underwater. By attaching a wide angle lens to the housing you'll be able to remove at least half the water between you and your subject resulting in a far more vivid shot. A 'wet' wide angle lens is one that can be attached or removed when underwater. Learn More
