Flexible arms and adapters

  Loc-Line snap-fit flexible tubing was originally designed for the purpose of feeding coolants and cutting lubricants to machine-tool work-pieces.  Hence it is designated according to the minimum diameter of the internal channel.  Flexible lighting arms normally use ¾" size Loc-Line (or a clone thereof), but the ½" size is stiff enough for spotting-torch and macro-light holders.
  Never pick-up a camera system by the flex-arm.  A good sharp pull is all it takes to separate the segments.
 Special pliers exist for separating and assembling Loc-Line; but if you heat the segments by first immersing them in a cup of hot water, they can be snapped together by hand.
 Flex arms are normally used for small head weights.  A 12-segment ¾" Loc-Line arm can support about 0.8Kg in air.  Heavy lighting units are best managed using ball arms.
 The YS (yellow submarine) mount is a de-facto industry standard for lighting heads.  Originally devised by Sea & Sea, is also used on video lights, targeting lights and flash units by Olympus, Sony, Epoque, 10Bar, Fisheye, H₂0 tools, etc., and adapters are available for Inon and other makes.
